Biotechnology: Science 2 Solutions skill development course organised in Doaba College

Jalandhar, July 12, 2022: Department of Biotechnology of Doaba College organized value added skill dvelopment course entitled Biotechnology: Science 2 Solutions for 10+2 students of various schools . 
Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari said that through this skill development course students were given hands on practical training  to studebts to find out solutions for various science riddles and problems through biotechnology,.Dr Bhandari said that from the current session college has started Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology course  to give impetus to the employability skills  to science students .
Dr Rajiv Khosla, Head delivered course Introduction to the participants followed by Lab Orientation viz PTC, Microbiology, PCR, Molecular Biology & Biochemistry, Research Lab, ATC etc . Participants were familiarized with background of the DNA and were given practical demonstration to  isolate  Human Genomic DNA from peripheral blood. They were taught about the extraction process and get themselves clicked with their DNA. They were familiarilized with the AGE (Agarose Gel Electrophoresis) process  and  taught about DNA purification process .Dr Poonam Bhagat, introduced the students to the hidden world of microorganisms present in different medium viz soil, pond water, human hair, hands, mobile cover etc. Students were guided how to measure pH of different beverages viz packed juice, milk, simple soda, soda drinks etc.
