“Biochemical Analyzer” Workshop organized in Doaba College

Jalandhar, March 28, 2022: Department of Biotechnology, School of Life Sciences of Doaba College Jalandhar organized a DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India sponsored Hands on workshop entitled “Technique Talk Series @ DCJ: Biochemical Analyzer” was organized under the aegis of DBT Star College Status – SAARTHI. 

Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal; Prof KK Yadav, HoD, Chemistry and Dr. Rajiv Khosla, Coordinator, School of Life Sciences and Head, Department of Biotechnology along with 50 students welcomed the resource person: Dr. Sunik Malik, Research Scientist, Viral Research & Diagnostic laboratory (VRDL) Govt. of Punjab (GADVASU, Ludhiana) & Managing Director, DS Diagnostic laboratory, Jalandhar. Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, in his address, elaborated that such hands-on learning experiences play a cardinal role as value addition in strengthening the bench skill as well as professional scientific potential of the students. 

In his opening remarks, Dr. Rajiv Khosla said that DBT Star Status – SAARTHI (Scientific aptitude augmentation and refinement through interaction with alumni) programme provides an incredible opportunity to students to regularly interact with the alumni of the department through meetings, lectures, workshops, group discussion, training etc.  

Dr. Sunik Malik began his talk with a sense of gratitude to his alma mater and shared his experiences of experiential learning he gained during his stay as Undergraduate student of B. Sc. Medical with Biotechnology in the Department of Biotechnology of Doaba College Jalandhar. He gave an illustrious explication of the design and working of Semi-automatic Biochemical analyzer available in the department. 

Students were given hands on exposure to various clinical diagnostic tests including Haemoglobin estimation, Blood Glucose level, Creatinine quantification, Urea and Uric acid detection. Prof. Arvind Nanda, HoD, PG department of Mathematics; Dr. Arshdeep Singh, HoD, Physics; Dr. Ashwani Kumar, HoD, Zoology and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, HoD, Botany were also present.
