Patna, Jan 21 (IANS) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Samriddhi Yatra (Prosperity Journey) reached Saran district on Wednesday, where he reviewed development and welfare schemes, interacted with the public, and launched a large number of infrastructure projects.

As part of the visit, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 45 projects worth Rs 451 crore and inaugurated 24 completed projects costing Rs 87 crore, taking the total value of initiatives to Rs 538 crore.

“Under the Samriddhi Yatra aimed at building a prosperous Bihar, I conducted on-site inspections of development projects in Saran district and reviewed the progress of various schemes,” Nitish Kumar said.

During the visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Jeevika Didi tailoring training-cum-production centre in Chhapra, inspected departmental stalls, and distributed cheques to beneficiaries of several welfare schemes.

He also reviewed facilities at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Chhapra Sadar, and gathered information about available resources and infrastructure.

At a review meeting with district officials, Nitish Kumar directed that all projects be completed within stipulated timelines, maintaining quality and transparency, and emphasised that the benefits of welfare schemes must reach the last person in society.

He later addressed the public during an interaction program.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Water Resource and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Power Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Saran MP and former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Maharajganj MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal, along with several other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, controversy emerged during the Chief Minister’s visit as allegations of misbehaviour with women surfaced.

A BJP leader accused administrative officials of misbehaving with a female MLA during entry arrangements at the event venue, leading to a brief commotion.

The matter reportedly arose amid crowd management during the fifth day of Nitish Kumar’s Prosperity Journey. Further details and official responses are awaited.

Nitish Kumar started the Samtriddhi Yatra on January 16.
