Patna, Jan 22 (IANS) Amid continuous attacks by the opposition over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister cum Home Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday issued a strong warning to criminals, asserting that the state government’s top priority is to establish the rule of law and that no laxity will be tolerated.

Speaking to the media, Samrat Choudhary said the Bihar Police have been given a complete free hand to act firmly against criminals.

“The Bihar Police have been given a complete free hand to take action against criminals. There is no political pressure on the police administration. They are working independently to maintain peace and order in the state,” he said.

Responding to allegations raised by the opposition regarding the state’s law and order situation, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the Bihar Police are taking continuous action against criminals and are fully capable of preventing any untoward incidents.

He expressed confidence that the proactive approach by the police will help reduce crime and strengthen public confidence.

“The police are active on all fronts. Strict action is being taken continuously. This will reduce crime and increase the public’s sense of security,” he added.

Along with his political remarks, Samrat Choudhary also shared a positive message about Bihar’s future.

He said that Patna and the state are immersed in devotion and prayed for Bihar to move ahead on the path of progress and prosperity.

The government believes that the freedom given to the police will not only create fear among criminals but also strengthen public trust in the system, he said.

Meanwhile, the Bihar government is currently facing sharp criticism over the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna, with opposition leaders alleging lapses in the investigation.

Patna Police have reportedly not achieved any breakthrough in the case so far, prompting the opposition to question whether the police are trying to protect someone.

Purnea Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav also strongly criticised the Bihar Police, stating that the post-mortem report confirmed the victim was sexually assaulted.
