Patna, June 17 (IANS) Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Wednesday declared that his party will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, while launching a sharp attack on the Congress and the opposition INDIA bloc.

Speaking at the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan’ in Jamui, Paswan said the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is preparing to expand its political footprint beyond Bihar.

“The opposition is not learning from its mistakes. We do not believe it will be able to revive itself in the next 30–40 years. Yes, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) intends to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections, and responsibility for the state has already been assigned to our party leadership,” he said.

Paswan accused opposition parties of lacking unity and consistency. Referring to meetings of the INDIA alliance, he alleged that opposition leaders come together after electoral defeats but continue to attack one another during state elections.

He claimed that this fragmentation has benefited the ruling NDA.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to enjoy strong public support, while opposition parties remain divided and unable to present a united alternative.

Taking a swipe at opposition leaders, including LoP Rahul Gandhi, Paswan argued that internal contradictions have weakened their credibility among voters.

Responding to comments attributed to Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Javed Ali Khan, Paswan said extremist rhetoric should be rejected regardless of who makes such statements.

He reiterated the NDA government’s slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,” emphasising social harmony and inclusive development.

Paswan also highlighted the Modi government’s approach to national security, stating that India now responds more assertively to terrorism and security threats.

He pointed to improvements in infrastructure, economic growth and poverty reduction, asserting that India has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies under PM Modi’s leadership.

The Jamui event was attended by NDA leaders Arun Bharti, Sanjay Singh, Shreyasi Singh, Sanjay Paswan and Ashraf Ansari, along with party workers and representatives of NDA constituent parties.
