Bheeshma Ekadashi celebrations in City Gangaputra Sangham  

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Gangaputra Sangham, Nagara Yuvajana Gangaputra Sangham jointly organized Bheeshma Ekadashi celebrations in City Gangaputra Sangham community hall, Afzalgunj today to mark the occasion to recall the greatness of Bheeshma in Mahabhartha. Bhishma has a large significance in the Hindu culture. Each year his death anniversary is celebrated as Bhishma Ashtami, which falls on the eighth lunar day of the Shukla (light) half of Magha (January-February) month and bheeshma ekadashi is the day the Vishnu sahasranama stotram was relvealed to pandavas by Bheeshma who was lying on the bed of arrow.
 
Speaking on the Occasion Gudaboina Shiva Ratnam –President - Hyderabad City Gangaputra Sangham,Said devotees of Lord Vishnu believe that listening to the Vishnu Sahastranama Stotram on bheeshma ekadashi leads to Moksha, i.e. freedom from the cycle of life. Some devotees keep fasingt on the day of Bhishma Ekadasi. Being the descendents of Bheeshma Gangaputras should feel proud and try to follow the dharma path as advised by Bheeshma, He Said.
 
Elaborating more on the same Sharanarthi Chandra Prakash – President Nagara Yuvajana Gangaputra Sangham,Said that children should follow the dharma path of Bheeshma and follow his ideologies.Essay writing competition held on the occasion of Bheeshma Ekadashi to the children is to make them learn good qualities of Bheeshma,He said.
