Bhagyatara Award Ceremony 

Chandigarh, April 26, 2022: Department of Chemistry & Centre for Advanced Studies in Chemistry on the behalf of Bhagyatara Educational Foundation, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized the Bhagyatara Award Ceremony through online platform, google meet. Prof. Renu Vig, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University, Chandigarh presided over the ceremony. The Bhagyatara award was presented to Dr. Chilla Malla Reddy, Professor and Head, Department of Chemical Sciences Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata and Dr. T. Govindaraju, Professor and Chair, Education Technology Unit Bioorganic Chemistry Laboratory, New Chemistry Unit, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru. Both the eminent scientists were congratulated for winning the prestigious award. The ceremony was followed by lectures on Adaptive Molecular Crystals by Dr. Chilla Malla Reddy and Molecular Theranostics by Dr. T. Govindaraju. The session was chaired by Prof. K.K. Bhasin, Chairperson of Bhagyatara Award Committee. He informed that the award which started in 2002,  is given every year by PU for research in the area of Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Dairy Chemistry and the selected Awardee gets Rs. 50,000/- This year awardees were presented an amount of Rs. 25000/- each. 

The Awardees are selected on the basis of the merit of his/her research work evaluated by a panel of Experts from among the Nominations received from different Universities/Research Institutes form all over India.

Prof. Sonal Singhal, Chairperson, in her welcome address gave the background details about the award.

The convener for the event was Prof. Gurjaspreet Singh, he concluded the event by expressing his gratitude to the awardees, the guests, the faculty members, the organizing team and everyone present during the ceremony. He also encouraged the faculty and young researchers about the importance of research for the welfare and betterment of society. He urged all for integrating and consolidating all knowledge domains for the growth of Industry, Society and Nation. 

All Senior PU Officials, faculty members, Researchers and students were present on the occasion.
