Bhagwant Mann Must Resign and Face Legal and Religious Accountability: Grewal

Ludhiana, June 24, 2026: National BJP leader and Senior Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan strongly condemned the recent developments relating to the controversy involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and stated that the matter has assumed extremely serious religious, moral and legal dimensions.
Grewal wrote on his social media account X that, first and foremost, he is a Sikh and a humble follower of the teachings of the Guru Sahibs, Sikh Maryada, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Singh Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, the Jathedars of all Takhts, the Panj Pyare of the Guru and every Hukamnama issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that no political office or constitutional position is above the authority and sanctity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib for devout Sikhs.
He said that if the allegations and developments emerging from the investigation are found to be true, then the actions attributed to Bhagwant Mann constitute an unforgivable and historic blunder. Grewal stated that any attempt to mislead religious institutions, manipulate facts or influence the course of justice in matters connected with allegations of Beadbi is unacceptable and deeply painful for the Sikh community.
Grewal said that history bears witness to the fact that Sri Akal Takht Sahib has never hesitated to impose strict religious punishments upon rulers and influential personalities whenever circumstances demanded. He said that even Maharaja Ranjit Singh accepted the supremacy and authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib with humility and reverence. Therefore, no individual, regardless of his office or position, should consider himself above accountability.
Grewal said that he is thankful to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the Haryana Police for taking action following the registration of an FIR by the Gurugram Police in connection with the alleged fake forensic report controversy linked to the video case concerning Bhagwant Mann. He said that the law must take its own course and that every person involved in influencing or fabricating evidence must be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He said that reports indicate that two persons have already been arrested and that allegations have surfaced regarding the preparation of a fake forensic report in exchange for monetary consideration. According to media reports, the controversy has become more serious after the Gurugram Police initiated legal proceedings and widened the investigation.
Grewal stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently maintained that truth cannot be suppressed through manipulation, propaganda or fabricated narratives. He said that every attempt to interfere with digital evidence, forensic procedures and judicial processes represents a grave assault on the rule of law and the faith of the people in democratic institutions.
Grewal demanded the immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on moral grounds. He further demanded a fair, impartial and time-bound investigation and appropriate legal action against every individual found guilty, irrespective of status or political affiliation.
He said that the people of Punjab deserve transparency, honesty and accountability from those occupying the highest offices of the State. Public trust, once betrayed, cannot be restored through political statements or manufactured reports.
Grewal asserted that truth must prevail, justice must be delivered and no one should be permitted to undermine the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the sanctity of Sikh traditions or the authority of the law.
