Bhagwant Mann Government Issues Another “Tughlaqi” Order: BJP

AAP’s ₹10 lakh cashless treatment announcement is misleading and merely an election stunt — Rajneesh Dhiman

Bhagwant Mann Government Issues Another “Tughlaqi” Order: BJP

Ludhiana, May 6, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has come under criticism from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Rajneesh Dhiman over its announcement of providing cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh. Dhiman termed the move “misleading” and an “election stunt,” alleging that it is intended only to deceive the public.
He further stated that Punjab is already under a debt of over ₹4 lakh crore, and the government is struggling to pay dearness allowance to its employees. “In such a situation, how will ₹10 lakh treatment be made possible?” he questioned, calling it nothing more than a paper promise and publicity gimmick.
Dhiman also criticized the directive issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that forcing all private hospitals to provide treatment up to ₹10 lakh would increase the financial burden on the state.
He termed another directive as “Tughlaqi,” alleging that hospitals have been ordered to install a large 10x20 feet flex board of the Chief Minister’s Sehat Scheme outside their premises at their own expense, even without municipal approval. According to him, the orders issued via the Civil Surgeon require hospitals to display boards featuring the image of the Chief Minister.
Raising practical concerns, Dhiman questioned how hospitals with limited frontage space—such as those with only 20 feet width—would comply with such instructions. He accused the Mann government of issuing irrational and baseless orders that lack practical sense.
On this occasion, BJP district vice president Mahesh Sharma,Dr. Nirmal Nayyar,Naval Jain, press secretary Dr. Satish Kumar, Surinder Kaushal, Saurav Kapoor, and others were present.
