Ludhiana, September 19, 2024: Sunandaji will present "Bhagavad Gita Decoded," a public lecture series at the Guru Nanak Dev Bhavanhere from September 19-22.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, she said she will cover a portion of Chapter 2 of the Bhagavad Gita, titled "The Perfect Human Being," offering verse-by-verse insights into this profound text. The lectures will be delivered in English from 6:15 pm to 8:00 pm each evening. Admission is free, and the event is open to all.
She said, “The purpose of this series is to help individuals develop their personalities and instill higher values in life”, adding, the teachings from the Bhagavad Gita provide practical guidance on overcoming life's challenges while fostering a dynamic, productive, and harmonious society.
Adding, she said The Bhagavad Gita, often called the "Song of the Lord," is a conversation between Lord Krishna and the warrior Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. In this sacred text, Lord Krishna offers guidance to Arjuna, who was distressed and confused. The Gita provides a practical philosophy for daily living, teaching techniques for achieving success and peace in life. In Chapter 2, Lord Krishna introduces the Yoga of Knowledge, helping Arjuna overcome his inner turmoil. The final verses of this chapter describe the qualities of a Sthitaprajna, or Enlightened Soul.
Sunanda Leelaram, affectionately known as Sunandaji, is the daughter-disciple of renowned philosopher A. Parthasarathy. With over four decades of experience studying and teaching Vedanta, Sunandaji has dedicated her life to human development through this ancient philosophy. Her lectures have captivated audiences worldwide, and she has received widespread media coverage across television, radio, and print. Sunandaji has spoken at premier organisations such as the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), EY, Harvard and Oxford Universities, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Her clear and powerful presentations on the Bhagavad Gita and the practical application of Vedanta in daily life have earned her acclaim both in India and abroad.
She also spoke about Vedanta and said that Vedanta, derived from the words "veda" (knowledge) and "anta" (end), represents the culmination of knowledge. Originating in ancient India, Vedanta offers universal principles and addresses fundamental questions of life and existence. It provides a logical, systematic explanation of eternal truths, guiding individuals toward happiness and self-realization. Vedanta's teachings promote both material and spiritual well-being, combining dynamic action with mental peace. Its philosophy encourages service to the community, ultimately leading to a prosperous and peaceful society. Above all, it provides a path toward the ultimate goal of self-realization.
