Ruskin Bond is a renowned present day Indian author of British descent. When we recall famous kids' book writers, his name springs up almost instantaneously owing to his authoring several children’s books. 

Pretty much all kids have read his literary work since his short stories are an integral part of school syllabus.   Additionally, his books have been adapted into movies and serials; thereby bringing more people into his readership/viewership net.

2.    Ghost Trouble: This one is a sweet story of a playful and harmless ghost, Pret, who initially lives in a peepal tree.  However, ruthless human activity like deforestation displaces him and he seeks shelter in a boy’s house, who later become good friends.

3.    The Cherry Tree: This is Rakesh’s journey of lovingly nurturing and protecting the cherry plant, until it become a sight to behold.  

4.    Dust on the Mountain: This story portrays the hardship and suffering of a  young boy who is a nature lover.  The narrative further reveals his positivity and strength when faced with obstacles.  

5.    Grandfather’s Private Zoo: This makes for a hilarious read! How a young boy and his grandfather admit and settle different animals in their private zoo keeps the narrative going.   

6.    Cricket for the Crocodile: This is an interesting tale of how a crocodile in search of human flesh disturbs the human habitat.  Besides, it is his way to seek vengeance from humans who have made his life a living hell. 

7.    Rusty, The Boy from the Hill: The title says it all!  This book tracks the adventures of a young boy, Rusty, who lives with his grandparents.  There is never a dull moment for him.  He is either surrounded by pet pythons or survives an air crash or meets  a ghost; the list is endless.
