Ludhiana, March 19, 2026: Undoubtedly, the lion-hearted daughters of Punjab, Harshdeep Kaur Benipal and Roopleen Kaur Benipal, are residing across the seven seas in America. However, by virtue of the determined spirit inherited from their heritage, they are today waving the flag of Sikhism and Punjabiyat high as successful Sikh mountaineers in the world. This is a matter of great pride for the entire Punjabi community.
These views were expressed jointly by Jatinderpal Singh Saluja (President, Punjabi Vikas Manch), Ranjit Singh Khalsa (President, Punjabi Virsa Foundation), Sonia Alag (President, Nishan Sports Welfare Association), and Puneet (Prominent Social Worker) during a special ceremony at the residence of Kulwinder Singh Benipal (Chief Sewadar, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Urban Estate Phase 1, Dugri, Ludhiana). They honored his talented daughters, Harshdeep Kaur Benipal and Roopleen Kaur Benipal, for their achievement of scaling Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak, height 5,895 meters, 19,340 feet) in the African country of Tanzania.
During this, Jatinderpal Singh Saluja said that if there is a desire to do something new in the heart, warm support from the family, and the blessing of the Almighty, then the greatest of successes can be achieved. This truth has been proven by the two biological sisters of a Sikh family from Punjab, Harshdeep Kaur Benipal and Roopleen Kaur Benipal, who are role models for today’s younger generation.
On this occasion, expressing joy over the grand achievement of his two lion-hearted daughters, Kulwinder Singh Benipal shared that after receiving primary education from Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, both girls moved to San Francisco (USA) for higher studies. They were very bright in studies since childhood and particularly had a great passion for becoming trekkers and mountaineers.
To fulfill this great passion, the high-spirited girls worked extremely hard and underwent training to become top-tier mountaineers, and they took all this training alongside their studies through the internet and online resources without any personal trainer.
Benipal mentioned that his daughters—who have reached the Base Camp of Mount Everest and scaled Grays Peak in North America—are like sons to him. With their courage, bravery, and high spirits, they have brought glory to the Benipal family, the country, and the community by conquering Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak).
Meanwhile, the sisters' mother, Karamjit Kaur Benipal, also expressed her joy, stating that although these brave daughters of Punjab live far away from us in America, they are raising the banner of Sikhi as successful mountaineers due to the values received from their heritage. The entire Benipal family is immensely proud of them.
