Ferozepur, February 4, 2014: The skyline was dotted with kites early in the morning, most of them enjoying and celebrating since last night. The festival has such impact, that those who are settled at some other place, reach Ferozepur to enjoy and cherish with friends, some of them even come from abroad.
Deepak, who was born and brought up at Ferozepur and now, settled in London, visits Ferozepur once in three or four year, mostly near Basant, so he could recall his childhood days and meet friends in great spirits.
Though the administration took stern action against the sale of China made string and some NGOs also initiated a campaign against this lethal string, most of kite flyers used China-made string blaming each other “if they can use it, why can’t we”, was the common reply.
China-string or normal string, made no difference at all to the kite lovers though, who were seen dancing and enjoying whole day amidst power-cuts and dizzy weather. Along with family members, it was time for reunion for some of them.
Keeping the tradition alive, the DJ’s were also installed on the rooftops, playing music whole day and the family members dancing along the tune. Reportedly some of these DJs charged rupees fifty to eighty thousand for the day.
Last night, the residents saw the kites flied with burning candles, mesmerising the viewers and dominating the darkness of the sky for whole of night. The morning began with piercing sound of DJs and “Dhol Beats”
The administration had a keen eye on balloon wanders who, use gas cylinder for filling of these balloons and had imposed a strict ban on them.  It is pertinent to mention that these cylinders proved fatal few years back, when one of these cylinders blew up due to which three persons died and several were severely injured.// punjab news live, punjab news online, punjab news, punjab news headlines, punjab breaking news, india news, ferozepur news,  punjab news, world news,
