Ludhiana, September 10, 2025: During Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special visit to flood-affected regions of Punjab yesterday, Pritpal Singh Baliawal, BJP spokesperson, met the Prime Minister in Pathankot and submitted a detailed account of the devastation caused in Sahnewal constituency.
Baliawal informed the Prime Minister that not only have standing crops been destroyed, but nearly 450 acres of fertile land have been washed away into the Sutlej River. He categorically blamed illegal mining in the constituency for this large-scale destruction and termed it as the primary reason behind the suffering of the people.
He strongly criticized Sahnewal’s AAP MLA and Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, accusing him of deliberately hiding the scale of destruction from the Prime Minister. “This is nothing short of a betrayal of the people of Sahnewal by their elected representative. At a time when the farmers and villagers needed their MLA to raise their voice, he chose to remain silent,” said Baliawal.
Pritpal Singh Baliawal also extended heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for announcing an additional ₹1600 crore relief package for Punjab along with the ₹12,000 crore SDRF fund already sanctioned. He expressed confidence that these funds will bring much-needed support to flood-affected families and help compensate, at least partially, for the immense losses suffered in his constituency.
