Chandigarh, December 28, 2013: Partap Singh Bajwa President Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today expressed shock over the demise of Ludhiana acid attack victim Harpreet Kaur and shared his grief with the bereaved family.

In a statement issued here, Bajwa said that the life of the girl could have been saved with timely financial help for the treatment of Harpreet Kaur. He however hailed the efforts of Ludhiana police in trying to save the girl and quick arrest of the accused. He said that it was unfortunate that SAD-BJP government had failed to control the open sale of acid despite order by the Supreme Court of India. He said that in the last three years 24 girls were attacked with acid. He demanded immediate ban on open sale of acid and asked the Chief Minister to act fast if he has any concern with acid attack victims.
