Ludhiana / New Delhi, April 16, 2013: National Productivity Council (NPC) is a national level organisation which  promotes productivity culture in the country.   The council functions under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India.

The Governing Body Meeting of NPC was held today at Udyog Bhavan, New Delhi.  Therein, election to Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of NPC was also held. 

Badish Jindal, National President, FASII, was elected unanimously as Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of NPC.  The Chairman of the Governing Council is Saurabh Chandra, Secretary, Government of India, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.

There were five eligible members for the post of Vice Chairman.  These are: Rajkumar Dhoot, President, ASSOCHAM, Naina Lal Kidwai, President, FICCI, K.R. Kamath, Chairman, CMD of Punjab National Bank, Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises and Badish Jindal, National President, FASII. Jindal was elected unanimously as Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of NPC. 

The Head Office of NPC is in New Delhi and NPC is having thirteen offices all over the country.  There are 34 local productivity councils across the country.

NPC is an autonomous, tri-partite, non-profit organization with equal representation from the Union Government, Employers and Worker’s Organisations, apart from technical and professional Institutions.  Besides providing training, consultancy and undertaking research on productivity, NPC also implements the productivity promotion plans and programmes of the Tokyo based Asian Productivity Organisation (APC) an inter-governmental body of which, the Govt. of India is a founder member.
