Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday  at a mammoth religious congregation converged at the 70th death anniversary of Sant Baba Nand Singh at Nanaksar Kaleran (Ludhiana).

Nanaksar Kaleran (Ludhiana), August 28, 2013: Terming socialism as an integral part of Sikhism, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that in line with the philosophy of great Gurus, Saints and Seers, the state government was committed for the overall welfare of all the sections of society.

Addressing a mammoth religious congregation converged at the 70th death anniversary of Sant Baba Nand Singh, the founder Nanaksar sect, here today, the Chief Minister said that great Sikh Gurus had always preached the path of communal harmony, brotherhood and peace adding that the four doors of Sri Harmandir Sahib personified that it was open for all the religions. He said that even the foundation stone of this sacred place of humanity was laid down by a Muslim Saint Sain Mian Meer, which reflected that the great Sikh Gurus respected every religion. He said that the message of Sangat and Pangat given by the great Sikh Gurus were lighthouse for every individual.

Exhorting the people to follow footsteps of great Gurus and Saints who had always preached to serve the humanity with utmost dedication and devotion, the Chief Minister said that it would lead to the formation of an ideal society and state. Expressing deep concern over the degeneration of moral values in society, Badal said that only religion could show us the light in this hour of grave crisis. 

Paying rich tributes to Sant Baba Nand Singh, the Chief Minister recalled the valuable contribution of Sant Baba Nand Singh in the social and religious fields. He said that Sant Baba Nand Singh had also played a key role in preaching the tenets of Sikhism on one hand and undertaking several philanthropic works for serving the mankind on the other. He said that Sant Baba Nand Singh had always propagated the message of universal love and brotherhood amongst the people due to which every year lakhs of devotees converge here to pay respect to this great spiritual leader.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Advisor Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, MLA S.R.Kaler, his Special Principal Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh and former MLA Bhag Singh Mallaan.
