The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal alongwith other leaders at gathering at KBD ground Brahm Sarovar during ‘Sanman Divas Smaroh’ organised by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in commemoration of 100th birthday of Ch. Devi Lal-  the messiah of down trodden and farmers popularly known as ‘Tau ji’, at Kurukshetra (Haryana) on Friday.

Kurukshetra (Haryana)/Chandigarh, November 1, 2013: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today appealed the people to follow the rich legacy of great statesman and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch. Devi Lal who fought a relentless battle against the divisive forces and sectarian politics besides for strengthening the democratic values through about his life. He said a real tribute to Ch.Devi Lal would be to throw the Congress led UPA government at Centre out of power for the installation of NDA government as the change of guard was imminent there because the incumbent government had miserably failed to deliver the goods for the betterment of the countrymen besides ensuring overall development of the country.
Addressing a mammoth gathering here at KBD ground Brahm Sarovar during ‘Sanman Divas Smaroh’ organised by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in commemoration of 100th birthday of Ch. Devi Lal-  the messiah of down trodden and farmers popularly known as ‘Tau ji’, Badal said that he had a family old ties with him and was fortunate to work with him especially during the country wide agitation launched against the draconian era of emergency imposed by the then late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Badal recalled the similar situation of emergency period was prevailing now a days as there was hardly anything worth administration in the UPA government as it was neck deep in corruption besides maladies like unemployment, inflation, starvation, illiteracy  and poverty had defaced our country which was once known world over as ‘Golden Sparrow.’ Slamming the Congress Government which had blatantly failed to maintain the internal as well as external security has no moral right to continue in office because its casual and in effective approach even dealing with the most crucial Indo-Pak issue, has brought dishonor and humiliation for the entire country.
Giving an oblique reference for forging alliance between Indian National Lok Dal and BJP during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Badal said that he was highly enthused by the huge participation of people from all parts of the Haryana in today’s rally, which was reflective of people’s mass resentment and anguish against the atrocities unleashed by UPA government and Haryana Congress government against the President of INLD Om Parkash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala who had been made targets of political vendetta. He mentioned how he and his family including his son Sukhbir Singh Badal were also imprisoned at behest of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh adding he said the politics of vendetta and confrontation never helped anyone in pursuing political ambitions rather ruined his political career indulging in such petty politics. Corroborating his stand, he said the people of Punjab have elected him as Chief Minister for the 5th time where as Captain Amarinder Singh has been vanished from the scene of Punjab politics. He said the upbeat mood of the people in today’s mammoth gathering has vindicated the stand of Chautala’s that they would stage a comeback in Haryana by capturing all the 10 seats in next parliamentary elections.
The Chief Minister cautioned the people of Haryana not to repeat the same mistake which they committed during the last state assembly elections by not giving a chance to INLD to serve them. He said such mistakes on the part of voters often cost dear to them for which they have repent later on. He said there was hardly any doubt that the majority of our countrymen wanted to show the door to Congress by giving a chance to NDA so that their aspirations could be fulfilled and dreams be realised. Without mincing any words, Mr. Badal said that NDA was the only government which could safeguard the interest of farmers, Industrialists, employees above all the poorest of the poor especially the common man ‘Aam Aadmi’ who had been badly exploited by the UPA government.
Earlier, the Chief Minister extended open invitation to Chautalas to organise a mammoth function as a part of Chaudary Devi Lal’s birthday celebrations in Punjab next year as he was not only revered and respected by Haryanvis but equally with same spirit by Punjabis too. He further said the functions in the memory of Ch. Devi Lal should be celebrated all over the country to perpetuate his legacy and ideology as he was an architect of ‘egalitarian society’ and this endeavor would help in strengthening the ethos of secularism on one hand and cementing the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, peace and goodwill on the other.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes on the bust of Ch. Devi Lal and he was honored with the a shawl, a turban and a sword by the Abhay Chutala and Digvijay Singh, the son and grandson of Om Parkash Chautala. www.cityairnews.com
