Patiala, March 18, 2014: The Punjab Police has foiled a revival attempt of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) by arresting six persons, including Babbar Khalsa terrorists and recovering arms and ammunition. The arrested persons include Gurdeep Singh s/o Babu Singh r/o village Alampur, PS Bassi Pathana, district Fatehgarh Sahib, Amarjit Singh s/o Gurnam Singh r/o village Mirzapur, PS Ghanaur, district Patiala, Jasvir Singh s/o Shivde Singh r/o village Hulkan, PS Banur, Samardeep Singh @ Sammi s/o Swaran Singh r/o village Gigemajra, PS Sohana, district S.A.S. Nagar, Sucha Singh s/o Harbans Singh r/o village Khudda Ali Sher, PS Sohana, district S.A.S. Nagar and Harjinder Singh s/o Amarjit Singh r/o 1871, Sector 45-B, Burail, Chandigarh.
Disclosing this here today, Hardyal Singh Mann, SSP, Patiala said that the police has recovered arms and ammunition including Rifle 315 bore (1), Pistol 315 bore (2), Cartridge 315 bore (4), Pistol 32 bore (1) and Cartridge 32 bore      (2).   A case FIR No. 22 dated 17-03-2014 u/s 399/402 IPC, 25 Arms Act has been registered in PS Banur in this regard.
The SSP said that the preliminary questioning of arrested persons has revealed that Jasvir Singh @ Jodha has been an active member of the Babbar Khalsa International and an important conduit of Paramjit Singh Bheora. He was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police along with Paramjit Bheora in 2006 and a consignment of arms and ammunition including 5 AK-47 rifles and 5 foreign made pistols smuggled through the Jaisalmar sector was recovered from them. A case FIR No. 24 dated 20-03-2006 u/s 353/186/307/120-B/121/121-A IPC, 25 Arms Act, 4/5 Explosive Act was registered against him in PS Special Cell, Rohini, New Delhi and another case FIR No. 41 dated 02-04-2006 u/s 212/216/216-A, 18/19/20/21 UAPA was registered against him in PS Banur.
He further said that Gurdeep Singh has been an important associate of Jagtar Singh Hawara after his escape from Burail jail in 2004 and played an important role in the Burail jail break. He was designated as the area commander of Fatehgarh Sahib district by Jagtar Singh Hawara and has been involved in as many as 13 FIRs, including terrorist offences, robberies, drug offences and attempt to murder as well. Mann informed that Amarjit Singh @ Kala was also an important associate of Jagtar Singh Hawara who has been convicted for 5 years in a terrorist case and was presently on bail. He has been involved in case FIR No. 153 dated 19-06-2005 u/s 212/121-A/122/123/124-A/153-A/212/216 IPC, 3/4/5 Explosive Act, 25 Arms Act, PS Dhuri and case FIR No. 5 dated 10-01-2005 u/s 3/4/5 Explosive Act, PS Nurpur Bedi.
He pointed out that all the three Babbar Khalsa terrorists, Gurdeep Singh, Amarjit Singh and Jasvir Singh @ Jodha were presently on bail and had established liaison among themselves to revive terrorist activities in the state and had also motivated some persons with a criminal background to join their terrorist module. This terrorist module had obtained weapons from UP and was conspiring to obtain arms and ammunition through the UP-Nepal route for carrying out a major terrorist strike. The arrested persons are being produced before the Judicial Magistrate where police remand for their further questioning is being sought, he added. Further investigations are ongoing.
