AWWA Week Celebration in Jalandhar Cantt

Jalandhar, August 23, 2022: AWWA week was celebrated from 16 Aug to 23 Aug 2022 at Jalandhar Cantonment to commemorate the 56th Anniversary of Army Wives Welfare Association, an NGO working towards the empowerment of families of soldiers since 1966. This year the theme of the AWWA week is 'In Stride with Future' relating to 'Woman Empowerment'. All activities organized during the week were based on this theme.
 
The festive week was the culmination of all the projects and welfare programs those were planned and held during this year. Activities like debate competitions on topical issues, Ethics Bowl Challenge (A collaborative and a competitive event where the participants analyse and discuss ethical dilemmas), lectures on contemporary issues especially women rights, competitions on Articles and Poetry writing skills and showcasing of their talent in embroidery and handicraft making and such like activities were conducted. Three days of Medical Camp for ‘Ladies Only’ was organized by Military Hospitals for thorough medical examinations of ladies above 40 years of age which was one of the high points of the celebration.
 
The AWWA week came to a close on 23 Aug 2022 with stage play on a social issue by students of Army Nursing College at the central function organized in Vajra Hall at Jalandhar Cantonment. President Vajra AWWA Mrs Rani Sharma felicitated the nominated Veer Naris and awardees of AWWA Excellence award and gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions. She complimented all members of the AWWA fraternity for their excellent work and exhorted each lady to continue the hard work to achieve the overall aim of the AWWA with "ASHA VISHWAS AUR AASTHA".
