Awareness Session on MSME Schemes and Recent Amendments in MSME Act Held for Entrepreneurs

Ludhiana, August 25, 2026: An Awareness Session on MSME Schemes and Recent Amendments in the MSME Act was organised to educate entrepreneurs and industry members about the latest provisions, benefits and support available to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The programme was supported by the Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization (FICO) and witnessed participation from prominent industry representatives.
Shallu Varshney, Director, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), was the Chief Guest at the session. She interacted with the industry representatives and highlighted the importance of awareness and compliance with government schemes and regulations.
The recent amendments in the MSME Act were also elaborated during the session. The participants were briefed about the key changes and their likely impact on MSMEs, particularly in relation to ease of doing business, compliance and protection of the interests of small businesses.
Gurmeet Singh Kular said that MSMEs are the backbone of Punjab’s industrial economy, and timely awareness about government policies, schemes and amendments is essential for strengthening the sector. He appreciated the efforts to connect government departments and industry on a common platform and urged that such interactive sessions should be organised regularly. He added that if we wants to improve the quality of products and promote the manufacturing of standardised products, industries must understand the importance of BIS registration and certification. He urged manufacturers to comply with the applicable BIS standards, as quality certification will help improve product quality, build consumer confidence and strengthen the competitiveness of Indian industry.
Harish Dua, President, Textile Apparel Association; Tarun Jain, President, Laghu Udyog Bharti; and Vipan Vinayak, President, Knitwear Association, along with other industrialists and representatives of the MSME sector were also present.
The participants appreciated the initiative and stressed the need for regular awareness programmes so that entrepreneurs can understand and effectively avail themselves of government schemes and comply with the latest statutory provisions.
