Patiala, July 29, 2026: Agrochem industry NGO, Agro Chem Federation of India organized an awareness and interaction programme for agri experts, dealers & distributors in Patiala on Wednesday to strengthen collaboration between the agrochemical industry and its dealer network to promote sustainable, safe and scientific farming practices.
During the occasion, the agri experts discussed issues pertaining to responsible product use, need for farmer awareness, industry & distributors joint stewardship initiatives, and safe agricultural practices amid evolving regulatory expectations. They also vowed to play a stronger role in promoting the safe, scientific, and responsible use of agrochemicals while supporting Indian agriculture and farmers' welfare.
Speaking during the occasion, Dr Dara Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Department of Agriculture, Patiala said that the government welcomes the efforts of the industry towards encouraging greater awareness on the safe and judicious use of crop protection products in line with sustainable agriculture practices.
He also emphasised that the capacity building of dealers and distributors is essential because they are often the first source of technical guidance for farmers.
By promoting responsible advisory, preventing counterfeit products and encouraging compliance with regulatory guidelines, such initiatives contribute to better farm outcomes while protecting human health and the environment, he said.
Dr Kalyan Goswami, Director General, ACFI, said that the event focused on building farmer trust through responsible advisory practices, addressing misinformation around pesticide usage, strengthening coordination between industry and distribution networks, and improving farmer education at the grassroots level.
Stronger collaboration has become increasingly important to support long-term agricultural sustainability, improve awareness on safe usage practices and strengthen compliance with evolving stewardship and regulatory frameworks, Goswami asserted.
