Rohtak, May 17, 2026: Under the joint aegis of the Haryana Chapter of the Association of Gynecologic Oncologists of India and the Department of Gynecology at PGIMS Rohtak, a one-day 'First Haryana State Gynecologic Oncology Conference' was organized on Sunday.
Serving as the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal inaugurated the conference by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal said that the First Haryana State Gynecologic Oncology Conference marks a new beginning, and such conferences will now be organized annually. He emphasized that it is the duty of medical practitioners to educate patients regarding preventive measures. Awareness is of utmost importance in preventing cancer, and to achieve this, patients must be informed about the symptoms of the disease.
Chief Guest Dr. Agarwal urged all gynecologists to ensure that every woman visiting the OPD is provided with information on cancer prevention measures—among which vaccination is paramount. He advised them to reassure patients and encourage them not to panic in the face of cancer.
Director Dr. S.K. Singhal noted that the institute offers both surgical and chemotherapy services under a single roof, and in the near future, robotic surgery facilities will also be made available.
Conference Chairperson Dr. Pushpa Dahiya provided detailed information regarding HPV vaccination. She remarked that today's scientific program would offer opportunities to learn about modern advancements in the field. The event featured detailed discussions on all forms of gynecological cancers. She also issued a call to action to spread awareness regarding the safety and efficacy of the HPV vaccine.
Experts identified the HPV vaccine, early screening, and public awareness as the most potent weapons in the fight against gynecological cancers. Dr. Savita Singhal—Conference Chairperson and President of the Haryana Chapter—delivered a lecture on Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia. Dr. Bhagyalakshmi, visiting from Odisha, delivered a presentation on vulvectomy and vaginectomy; additionally, serving as the Secretary of the Onco Conference, Dr. Bhagyalakshmi delivered a lecture on genital cancers.
The conference Co-Chairperson, Dr. Meenakshi Chauhan, delivered a lecture on organ-specific oncology, focusing on the topic of NACT versus upfront surgery in cases of ovarian cancer. Dr. Vandana Jain, HoD of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, discussed sentinel lymph node mapping in detail. Dr. Rupendra Sekhon highlighted modern advancements in the field.
Dr. Sanjay proposed the vote of thanks. Also present during the event were Dean Dr. Ashok Chauhan and Medical Superintendent Dr. Kundan Mittal, alongside Dr. Vandana, Dr. Neetu Sangwan, Dr. Ritu Hooda, Dr. Sonia, Dr. Monica, Dr. Nishu, Dr. Rupa, and Dr. Latika.
