Awareness-cum-Jan Sunwaai Camp 

Legal Aid Society, University Institute of Legal Studies(UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh organised an Awareness-cum-Jan Sunwaai Camp at Khudda Lahora, U.T. Chandigarh at Dharamshala-cum-Anganwadi, Khudda Lahora, U.T. Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, November 5, 2025: Legal Aid Society, University Institute of Legal Studies(UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh organised an Awareness-cum-Jan Sunwaai Camp at Khudda Lahora, U.T. Chandigarh at Dharamshala-cum-Anganwadi, Khudda Lahora, U.T. Chandigarh. 

Various services and facilities regarding the Aadhar card, Labour Card, Ration Card, Ayushman Card, Free Legal Aid, and Pension matters were provided in the said awareness-cum-Jan Sunwaai camp in coordination with Labour department; Social Welfare department and Health department, U.T. Chandigarh. 

More than 250 registrations were received as people engaged and proactively participated in the Camp with their queries which were diligently dealt with by the Legal Aid Members.

More than 65 Aadhar card updations along with issuing new ones, 45 labour cards, 50 Ayushman cards, 50 ration cards, 15 legal assistance, 25 queries regarding pension matters was addressed.

In order to promote more awareness about Legal Aid Assistance, a street play was also conducted by the members along with volunteers of Legal Aid Society on “Nukkad natak- Umeed: beyond drugs” addressing the various drug addiction problems faced by the youngsters in society and hence creating awareness at Anganwadi-cum-Dharamshala, KhuddaLahora. 

The awareness-cum-Jan Sunwaai camp at Khudda Lahora, Chandigarh proved to be a significant step in fostering legal empowerment and knowledge within the community. The support from the Legal Aid and State Legal Services Authority & District Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh besides active participation of villagers contributed to the overall success of initiative. The general public was also made aware about NALSA Toll Free Helpline Number 15100 and Legal Services Management System (LSMS) portal by Para Legal Volunteer (Adhikar Mitras) of DLSA, U.T. Chandigarh.

The Camp was also graced by Shri. Arun Kumar Aggarwal, Ld. Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh and Shri. Sunil Kumar, Ld. CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh, who addressed all the queries at the Jan Darbar.

The success of this initiative would not have been possible without the strong support and guidance from the Teachers Coordinators, including Prof. Amita Verma, Dr. Karan Jawanda, Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Dr. Jatinder Maan.
