Jalandhar, August 12, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has officially launched a week-long series of activities to mark Anti-Ragging Week, being observed from August 12 to 18 under the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The initiative aims to raise awareness and foster a safe, respectful environment for new students.
The celebrations began with a vibrant poster and slogan exhibition prepared by the students themselves. Throughout the week, a variety of events will be organised to educate and engage the college community, including orientation sessions, an awareness rally, workshops, seminars, and a quiz competition.
As part of its efforts to warmly welcome newcomers while discouraging the practice of ragging, the college also organised a traditional Saraswati Pooja. Conducted in a culturally rich and traditional manner, this event served as a warm introduction for first-year students, reflecting the institution’s commitment to nurturing a respectful and positive academic atmosphere from day one.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi emphasised the importance of sensitising students about the harmful practice of ragging and the laws enacted to prevent it. She remarked that ragging not only hinders a student’s progress towards life goals but also acts as a termite, weakening the very foundation of an institution. Highlighting KMV’s status as an anti-ragging institution, she assured that the college offers a positive environment where students can aspire to achieve new heights of success through quality and holistic education.
The Principal also lauded the dedicated efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Dean of Student Welfare, and Nodal Officer Dr. Simarjeet Kaur for successfully coordinating the week’s activities.
