Avneet Kaur shares her lockdown diary
Avneet Kaur.

Avneet Kaur is an Indian actress and has been working in the Indian television industry for almost a decade now.
Basically from Jalandhar, Avneet is now in Mumbai and is currently portraying the role of Princess Yasmine in Sony SAB TV’s show Aladdin - Naam Toh Suna Hoga. We asked a dozen questions to her and she gave very clear answers to all the questions. Here is the Q&A Session:
1.    About your character in the show
I basically play Princess Yasmine in the show. She is the Princess of Agrabah and the  daughter of the Sultan. She is a warrior princess, in love with Aladdin, and loves horse riding, sword fighting. She wants to rule her kingdom, is an independent, brave and smart girl. I am quite like Princess Yasmine in real life. She wants to revenge her father’s death and has Aladdin by her side.
2.    What is your favourite cuisine apart from the famous Punjabi food?
I am quite fond of Chinese and Italian food.
3.    What is your favourite Punjabi food?
I really like Rajma chawal. And I think my mother makes the best Rajma chawal.
4.    One thing about Punjab/ Punjabis that you like the most
I love my visits to Punjab and try to get there as frequently as I can.
The place has a unique freshness to it. I love the people and their general outlook towards life. The people are very kind and helpful, no guest is allowed to leave without having a hearty meal.
5.    Favourite Punjabi singer and song
Diljit Dosanjh is my favourite singer, though I also like Hardy Sandhu and Jas Manak.
Topping the list of my favourite song would be the one I acted in: Yaari by Nikk. I also like the song Soch by Hardy Sandhu and Jass Manak’s latest song Dil Todne Se Pehle
6.    When was the last time you performed Giddha
It’s been a while since I performed giddha. Though I have performed bhangra quite often.
No party today is complete without Punjabi music and invariably everyone breaks out into bhangra at every gig.
7.    One thing you miss about Punjab
Being an avid foodie, I truly miss the most original Punjabi food. I miss the authentic chole bhature, which are available literally all over Punjab. I also miss gol gappe and chaat of the place
8.    Best place to eat authentic Punjabi food in or outside of Punjab
Restaurants all around the Darbar Sahib in Amritsar serve the best aloo paratha and malai-daar lassi. My hometown Jalandhar has one of the best eating joints Haveli and Rangla Punjab which serve the most awesome makki di roti and sarson da saag in the winters.
9.    If you had to recommend a place to visit in Punjab to an outsider, which place would that be and why?
Without a doubt Darbar Sahib since it is the most peaceful and beautiful place. Otherwise Punjab’s hinterland and its villages are also worth visiting.
10.    How well can you speak Punjabi?
I can speak it well. I can even read and write it too since I did my initial schooling in Jalandhar only.
11.     Can you cook Punjabi food?
My mother cooks the best Punjabi food. I have been a little lazy till now and have not tried my hand at it. But I sure want to learn how to make authentic chole bhature.
12.     How different are your conversations with a Punjabi vis-a-vis a non-punjabi
I think I may not be so open on meeting a non-Punjabi. Punjabi’s have the knack to draw you into any conversation. Hence am always more comfortable with a Punjabi.
