Dharamshala, February 9, 2023: Norzin Dolma -Minister, Information & International Relations, Tibetan government in exile today inaugurated an audio guide and interactive website of The Tibet Museum to commemorate the 1st anniversary of this modern Tibet Museum.

She congratulated the museum on its approach toward digitization and e-governance.

DIIR’s Additional Secretary Tenzin Lekshay commended the approach of the Tibet Museum in generating an audio guide to the photographic installations so visitors could gain a clear background understanding of the photographic display. The audio guide is available in five languages- Tibetan, Hindi, English, Chinese and Italian.

Tibet Museum’s Director Tenzin Topdhen briefed about the evolution of the museum, the idea for which was initially conceived in 1998 and consecutively inaugurated in 2000 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.  The objective was to spread awareness about the distinct Tibetan religion and culture, language, its current status, environment, and the evolution of Tibetan democracy.

A new Tibet Museum was formally inaugurated by then Tibetan administration head Penpa Tsering at Mcleodganj in  Dharamshala on 10th February last year. Director of the museum Tenzin Topdhen said the museum highlights Tibet’s historical, political, environmental and international importance through archives, photographs and personal testimonies apart from focusing on educating people about Tibet culture, democracy in exile, teachings and legacies of the Dalai Lama.
