Attacks on Police, Deteriorating Law and Order Indicate Situation Is Slipping Out of Government Control: Anil Sarin
Punjab Bharatiya Janta Party General Secretary Anil Sarin said that repeated attacks on police personnel, the killing of three ASIs within a short period, and the need for the police to issue advisories for the safety of its own personnel indicate that the law and order situation in the state is slipping out of the government’s control.

Ludhiana: September 26, 2026: Punjab Bharatiya Janta Party General Secretary Anil Sarin said that repeated attacks on police personnel, the killing of three ASIs within a short period, and the need for the police to issue advisories for the safety of its own personnel indicate that the law and order situation in the state is slipping out of the government’s control.
Sarin said several incidents of violence, firing, drug overdoses, religious sacrilege and robbery reported from different parts of the state on the same day had raised serious questions over the law and order situation in Punjab.
Sarin said the government should not treat such incidents as mere newspaper headlines, but should undertake a serious review of the functioning of the police administration. He said that if people no longer feel secure in their homes, markets, religious places and public gatherings, the government must reconsider its law and order policy.
He cited reports of a youth dying following an assault in Jalandhar, firing during a jagran in Kapurthala, the death of a youth due to a drug overdose in Dharamkot, an alleged act of sacrilege involving Sri Gutka Sahib in Patiala, and motorcycle-borne persons snatching a woman’s purse at around 9 a.m. in Gilco Valley, Mohali, saying that such incidents were contributing to growing concerns among the public about their safety.
