Karnal, October 6, 2026: A two-day Ashok Singhal Centenary Yatra, marking the birth centenary of late VHP former international working president Ashok Singhal, was flagged off from New Delhi and culminated at his birthplace Agra.

Former Union Minister Ashwini Choubey flagged off the yatra with a saffron flag in New Delhi. Ashok Singhal Centenary Manch president Atul Singhal was also present. The yatra was led and coordinated by Dr Virender Singh Chauhan (Director HIRD).

The yatra passed through Gurugram, Sohna, Vrindavan, Mathura’s Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Nagla Chandrabhan, the birthplace of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya, before concluding at Ashok Singhal Marg in Agra. BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Agra mayor Naveen Jain welcomed the participants at the final stop.

Senior BJP leader Satish Garg, Swami Brahmeshwar, Swami Brahmendranand and Naveen Jain shared memories of Singhal at different stops and paid tributes to him.

Dr Virender Singh Chauhan said Singhal had spent several years in Haryana as an RSS pracharak and played a key role in turning the Ram Janmabhoomi movement into a mass movement through his organisational skills and sustained efforts.

He said the centenary initiative aimed at acquainting the younger generation with Singhal’s life, ideas and contribution to society and the nation. “This is not merely a yatra, but a sustained campaign to take his message of organisational commitment and national service to the younger generation,” he said.

Dr Chauhan said a series of yatras, dialogues and other programmes would be organised throughout the year as part of the centenary celebrations.

Yatra in-charge and journalist Tarun Jha, organisation in-charge Ashish Sharma and media in-charge Chandrabhan Navik were among those who contributed to the event. The yatra received enthusiastic participation from people, particularly youth, at various stops.

Tarun Jha said senior Swadeshi Jagran Manch functionaries Kashmiri Lal and Dr Surendra Kumar extended their support and blessings to the initiative at the organisation’s Delhi headquarters.
