Chandigarh, June 22, 2026: Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Adviser Deepak Bali on Sunday announced the organisation of three grand devotional events titled 'Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv De Naam' in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Batala to promote spiritual values and celebrate Punjab's rich religious and cultural heritage.
Addressing a press conference alongside National President of Sanatan Seva Samiti Vijay Kumar Sharma, Deepak Bali stated, "Religion and spirituality play a vital role in shaping human life and society. Punjab is a sacred land associated with the Vedas, Ramayana, Upanishads, Mahabharata, Puranas and Sri Guru Granth Sahib, and it is the responsibility of the present generation to preserve this rich heritage and pass it on to future generations."
He continued, "Under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has been making sincere efforts to promote and celebrate the religious and cultural traditions of all communities." He highlighted the successful state-level commemorations of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the ongoing celebrations dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji.
Deepak Bali further said, "The government has also taken several initiatives for the promotion of Sanatan traditions. For the first time, the Punjab Government organised celebrations of the Hindu New Year (Nav Samvat). Recently, a grand devotional event, 'Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv De Naam', held in Jalandhar received an overwhelming response from devotees, with attendance far exceeding expectations."
He also informed, "Under the Mukh Mantri Tirath Ytra Yojna’, three new ‘tirath’ (pilgrimage) circuits have been added, including Khatu Shyam Salasar, Mathura-Vrindavan and Haridwar-Rishikesh, enabling more devotees to visit important religious destinations."
Announcing the upcoming events, he said, "'Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv De Naam' will be organised on June 27 at Ranjit Avenue Grounds, Amritsar, on June 28 at Government College, Gurdaspur, and on June 29 at S.L. Bawa School Ground, Batala."
Deepak Bali added, "Renowned devotional singer Hansraj Raghuwanshi, known across the country for his devotional songs dedicated to Lord Shiva, will perform at all three events. The programmes will provide devotees with an opportunity to immerse themselves in devotion and offer prayers to Lord Shiva in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere."
Deepak Bali further informed, "AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann will also attend these events as devotees and participate in the spiritual gatherings."
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Kumar Sharma stated, "I thank the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government for its continuous efforts to promote and celebrate Sanatan traditions in Punjab." He appreciated the government's initiatives aimed at preserving religious values and creating opportunities for people, especially the younger generation, to connect with their spiritual and cultural roots.
Vijay Kumar Sharma appealed, "People from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Batala and nearby areas should participate enthusiastically in these devotional events and make them a grand success.”
