Article 370 revocation opens road for progress & peace

Ludhiana, August 30, 2019: Perhaps one of the most historic decisions pertaining to integration and unity of the nation i.e Revocation of Article 370 and also bifurcation of J&K was taken by the Central Government last month.
With an objective to understand the Rationale and ramifications of this challenging decision, LMA-Ludhiana Management Association organized a session with Gen.V.P.Malik, former Chief of Army Staff. LMA President Kamal Wadhera while elucidating the theme opined that this decision would pave the way for growth and development in the state, as stability would encourage the investors to identify and leverage on opportunities in the Agriculture, IT, Tourism and Healthcare sectors.
General VP Malik termed the move as bold and path breaking, and also felt that abrogation of Article 370 i.e. the Government's decision to bifurcate J&K would have been taken after a great deal of thought. Though the decision was challenging and fraught with dangers, due to historic and emotive reasons with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the government decided to bite the bullet for a lasting solution to this vexatious problem. General Malik traced the history of the Kashmir problem, trust deficit between the stakeholders i.e people of the state and the government leading to turmoil and conflict.
General Malik maintained that though the revocation of Article 370 was a step forward, it would ensure peace and harmony, only if people of the state accept the change both in the letter and the spirit. He felt that though as of now, there have been no cases of violent protests, but whether the people have accepted the change or not will be known only when the restrictions on protests, curbs on media and civilians are removed. General Malik hoped that people of state would realize very soon that Integration with the Nation, was in their self interest, as the change could usher a new era of growth, development and well being in the region.
Dr. Sandip Kapur, Sr. Vice President, LMA expressed his gratitude to General V P Malik as this interaction, he hoped would motivate LMA Members to explore the avenues for business growth in Jammu and Kashmir. General V. P.Malik was felicitated by Dr. Paramjit Kaur, General Secretary LMA and Harmohinder Singh Pahwa.
