Rohtak, October 9, 2026: Students of the Film and Television (FTV) faculty at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) are learning to look beyond the visual appeal of artworks through an ongoing art appreciation workshop.
Led by visual artist, painter and animation filmmaker Shaifali Jain, the workshop aims to sharpen students’ observation skills, deepen their understanding of visual expression and encourage creative thinking. Third-semester FTV students are participating in the initiative.
Faculty coordinator Mahesh TP said the workshop introduces students to key elements of art, including colour, form, texture, composition, subject and artistic expression. It also encourages them to interpret artworks in the context of society, culture and personal experiences rather than viewing them merely as aesthetic creations.
He said a deeper understanding of visual art could prove valuable for students pursuing acting, direction, editing, cinematography and audiography by strengthening their imagination, visual awareness and aesthetic sensibility.
The initiative also seeks to help students develop independent interpretations of artworks and communicate their ideas more effectively, preparing them to bring greater creativity and experimentation to their professional work.
