Jalandhar, December 8, 2019; Around 300 students proudly wore academic gown in the Annual Convocation held at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, today. Chief Guest of the event Ms.Upma Chawdhry- Secretary of Youth Affairs, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, conferred on degrees to those students who qualified Post Graduation in session 2017-18 in various academic streams. Ms.Chawdhry was duly and formally welcomed to the college by President Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur, Mr.Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint Secretary Governing Council and Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra. The President of the College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur welcomed the Chief Guest from the dice and informed the audience about her connections with the city of Jalandhar and the subsequent matter of pride for the college on providing a base for this latest reunion. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the College Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra informed about the educationist credentials of the chief guest owing largely to her father Prof. U.R. Dada, an eminent educationist of his time. Dr. Samra also highlighted Lyallpur Khalsa College’s rare achievement of holding the overall trophies of Guru Nanak Dev University for sports and co-curricular activities at the same time. In her convocation address, the Chief Guest Ms. Chawdhry spoke about the rationale of decision making process in life which goes a long way towards the development of the nation. She lauded the institution for providing the needed ambience for an all round development of students. Congratulating the students on their awards, she wished them good luck on their initiation into professional life. Vote of thanks on this occasion was presented by Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Dean Academic Affairs. The occasion was also witnessed by the presence of Mr. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, Member Governing Council and Sister Rosmi, Principal, St. Joseph's Convent School, Jalandhar.
