Ludhiana, October 27, 2023: Trailer of the upcoming film `Attari Junction’ was released here on Thursday evening by Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha). 

Speaking on the occasion, Arora said this is an appreciable step to promote 161-year-old historic Attari Railway Station. He said no one has so far tried to bring historical fact on this railway station in the shape of a film, adding that however, it is appreciable that noted artist and former Additional Advocate General (AAG) to Punjab Government Harpreet Sandhu has taken a lead towards this direction.

Arora said `Attari Junction’ is really a heritage film, which depicts the old and rich heritage of the state. He stressed upon the need to motivate people, especially the youth, to watch this movie to learn about their rich heritage.  He said he would speak to the Ministry of Railways to declare Attari railway station a heritage railway station and set up a museum there for the visitors. He added that this historic railway station reminds everyone of the tragic partition in 1947. 

Arora said the Attari railway station was the last gateway to cross over for those leaving behind their homes to find a new one during the partition in the year 1947. He regretted that presently Attari railway station gives a deserted look whereas there is a need to protect it. Presently, Attari railway station is temporarily home to goods trains or abandoned trains, said Arora.

Commissioner Police Ludhiana, Mandeep Singh Sidhu, said that the Trailer will play a positive role towards attracting visitors who come from across globe to witness Wagah Border to experience this historic 161-year-old Attari Railway Station and congratulated Film Director Harpreet Sandhu for making an excellent Heritage Trailer of upcoming film “Attari Junction.”  He also narrated his experience of service when Attari Station was under his command. He also was shot at that time when serving at Amritsar. He also said getting a token to work as coolie at Atari Station was a tough time in those days. 

Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal Vice Chancellor PAU, Ludhiana said that the upcoming film minutely highlights Attari Railway Station which holds immense historical significance as it lies close to the Wagah-Attari Border and witnessed the partition of India in 1947, which led to the formation of two separate nations. 

Commissioner Audit Central GST Hardeep Batra described the trailer as an outstanding preview towards the upcoming Heritage Film Attari Junction. 

GLADA Chief Sagar Setia acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Heritage promoter Harpreet Sandhu to beautifully portray 161-year-old Attari Railway Station which stands as a testimony to the shared history, cultural exchanges, and economic ties between India and Pakistan. 

Film Director Harpreet Sandhu shared that the Trailer showcases the Historic Attari Railway station which served not merely as a transit point; but it represented symbol of cross border connectivity and cultural exchange. He further stated that the upcoming film focuses on historical architecture of more than a century-old Attari railway station, which is a blend of Indo-Islamic and Victorian architectural styles, the arches and ornate facades showcasing an aura of grandeur and elegance of the bygone era which have seldom been highlighted earlier. It will also highlight unique historical significance and crucial role of Attari Railway Station in facilitating cross-border trade, tourism, and people-to-people interactions which apart of few from the older generation, majority is not aware regarding the prominence of this heritage railway station. 

The highlight of the film trailer is the rare constellation of intellectuals facing the camera on the railway tracks of Attari Railway Station.  Trailer of the film focuses on elements that stand out, with story behind the last gate that eventually opened to pave way for the train to cross over to Pakistan. The film is scheduled to be released in December 2023 across the globe. Film is directed by Punjab’s eminent Author, Heritage Promoter and Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu, script written by Atul Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner Customs, Attari and the Lyrics are penned by the famous Poet of India Padma Shri Dr. Surjit Patar.

Many prominent personalities including Additional Director General of Police SPS Parmar, Atul Tirkey, DC Customs, leading industrialist Kamal Oswal, Gagan Khanna and Sanjeev Garg were present at the release of the trailer of the film `Attari Junction’.
