Ludhiana, November 11, 2023: Despite rainy weather, MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora along with the authorities of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), on Friday, inspected the 7-Km stretch of under-construction elevated road from Old Octroi Post on Ferozepur road to Jagraon Bridge (near Durga Mata Mandir).

Arora was seen watching progress of the project while holding an umbrella in his hand. He enquired about each and every detail of the project. He expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing work of the project and lauded the NHAI Project Director Ashok Rolaniya for carrying out the work as per the given timeframe. He also thanked the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari and the NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav on whose directions and guidelines the speedy work has been carried out.

The NHAI authorities informed Arora that 2-Km-long stretch from Verka Milk Plant to Jagraon Bridge (near Durga Mata Mandir) will be made open for the vehicular traffic on November 11. He was apprised that all the finishing touches were being given to this portion of the elevated road.

Further, Arora was apprised that 1-Km-long stretch of elevated road from Bharat Nagar Chowk to Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) is also likely to be connected in December. More than 70 per cent work on the stretch towards the bus stand had been done. Arora was told that girders have been launched at Bharat Nagar Chowk and slab work has also been done in four spans. Once the elevated road from ISBT is completed it will stand connected to Samrala Chowk.

Arora said he understands that people of this industrial town are anxiously awaiting completion of the project because they have already suffered a lot due to the ongoing construction work. He added people will get a sigh of relief after the project is fully completed in the coming period. He said the opening of the complete project will prove a boon for the commuters as it will not only reduce time of travel and fuel cost but also help in minimising pollution in the city.

He said he is happy that his efforts are leading to completion of the project. He said he will make sure that the project is fully completed and dedicated to the public at the earliest possible.

Further, Arora said during inspection he noticed that a few commuters were driving their vehicles from wrong side on already operational part of elevated road, which is very much dangerous. He requested people to immediately stop this practice to avoid any major mishap otherwise there are always chances of loss of human lives in a major road accident. He even asked the authorities concerned to look into this matter in the larger public interest.
