Ludhiana, February 15, 2022: CT University in association with Arjan Vir Foundation delivered a lecture on Stem Cell Donation Registration. The speakers for the occasion remained Simi Singh, Chairperson, Arjan Vir Foundation and Jasleen Garcha, CEO.
In this session, Jasleen Garcha and Simi Singh gave the knowledge about the importance of stem cell that keeps life alive in our body. If any of these imbalances then various diseases arise in the body which spreads from the blood, of which blood cancer is the major disease.
It was also reported that life is saved if a patient with blood cancer gets a healthy stem cell donor. Unfortunately, the chances of getting a match are very rare, which is one in a million. It was also shared that the total population of India is over 130 crore but stem cell donation registration is only half a million. In this case most of the Indians have to import stem cells from abroad to save the cancer patients at a cost of up to Rs 50 lakhs which is beyond the reach of a common man. At the same time, the process of stem cell donation was also discussed and with it the body does not have to face any major problem but a dying person gets life donation.
Sarabpreet Singh, Registrar and Executive Director, CT University, who was present on the occasion, said that in the future we will be doing our part in this endeavour by setting up camps at the university and conducting maximum registrations. He also said that God has given the power to give birth to life only to a woman but with this action every human being can give birth to a dying person again.
On this occasion Dr. JK Sharma, Director - Research, Industry Interface & Innovation, Mandeep Kaur, Senior Manager - Operations to Vice Chancellor's Secretariat, Nitin Bibra, Dean Academic, CT University, all the department heads and teachers were also present.
