Ludhiana, February 18, 2019: Ar Sanjay Goel of Indian Institute of Architects, Ludhiana Center and Punjab Chapter has welcomed the decision of Punjab Government to allocate under Smart Cities, Rs.296 Cr for development of Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar. Hope future further allocation of funds from Central Government will be there. If future villages are smart, then migration of people from villages to towns and cities will be less, hence it will be easier to make cities smart, as major problem in cities is of ever increasing population and vehicles.

Architects has also welcomed the decision for Amritsar to be developed into ' Iconic City', where Architects shall be hired from outside for development of Tourist spots. Why Ludhiana not selected as future Iconic City?

Architects has also welcomed funds allocation for built environment including medical buildings, open university, sports stadiums, smart schools, smart villages and Rs. 700 Cr under AMRUT scheme.Hope Punjab Government will work for more development in coming times and Ludhiana will also get its International airport at Halwara as soon as possible.
