Appeal for Poor Child

Ludhiana, March 26, 2014: Lucky, a 9 year old boy (Our hospital unit No. C – 7502535) from Haibowal, Ludhiana, is an exception to the archetype of young children of his age. A school drop-out, at an early age, due to financial and health constraints, he was admitted in the department of Paediatric Surgery in CMC, Ludhiana, with pus in the chest and pus filled lungs (Empyema Thoracis).
He is the only hope for his mother, who lost her husband and elder son due to unknown reasons.  He belongs to an economically poor family, his mother being the only bread winner, a housemaid, with a meager source of income, to make ends meet.
Lucky was brought to the hospital with weakness, chest pain and difficulty in breathing. Admitted in a serious condition, he had to be resuscitated a couple of times to bring him back to life. The doctors have drained pus from his chest and given him medicines for temporary symptomatic relief.
Subsequently, he underwent Thoracotomy (22.3.2014) and decortication, i e, opening of the chest to clean pus and necrotic material overlying and encasing the lung. He was on ventilator for a period of 48 hours and is continuing to be on other life support measures at present. His frail, poorly nourished body is making valiant efforts to pull out of this critical state.
The hospital has done its best to raise funds, through various means, for his treatment till date.  He still requires financial help, for an emergency surgery, the mainstay of treatment for his disease, ICU care and further medical treatment.
At this stage, with no relatives to support, the family is looking forward to the generous hearts of the society to bring a difference in his life. Your help can be a ray of sunshine in that dark tunnel!
