Jalandhar, October 6, 2015: An exchange program of 10 days was held in Chengdu, China. The collaboration between Apeejay and Chengdu Textile College was a fruitful opportunity for the students of both the colleges to explore and experience cultures as well as learn art and crafts of both the countries. It was an incredible opportunity for students to be able to interact with students from different cultures and heritage.

In the opening ceremony, one belt programme was organized in which a unique collaboration of 5 countries i.e. China, India, Laos, Thailand and Indonesia were displayed.  In the ten days venture, various workshops on Shu Embroidery, Digital Printing, Chinese style of Knot Making, Calligraphy and Painting were organized for the students.  Teachers from India gave presentations on Kutch Embroidery, Paranda making, Kasuti embroidery etc.  Xicun, a splendid International Fashion Week was organized in which the richness of cultures of different countries was displayed. Team of Apeejay displayed Indian rich textiles including weaving, embroideries and also the fusion of traditional crafts like Zardosi, Kalamkari, Phulkari in this Fashion Show with great zeal. Students of Apeejay also performed a compilation of Giddha, Sammi and Bhangra at the Chengdu Colleges Freshman Function.

Principal Dr. Sucharita congratulated all the students for their successful participation in cross cultural activities. She shared her views that each place has something to offer and so does people of various places and learning about different cultures, heritage, Arts and Crafts is always invaluable and cannot be priced at all. She said such programmes always prove to be a milestone for the aspiring students.
