Chandigarh/Sonipat, October 2, 2026: Haryana’s farm produce is making a bigger push into international markets, with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitating the export of a 24-metric-tonne consignment of frozen food products from Sonipat to Canada.
The consignment from Aetern Foods was flagged off on October 1 and comprises 2,295 boxes of IQF and ready-to-eat products, including green peas, mixed vegetables, peas and carrots, sweet corn and samosas. The shipment is valued at around CAD 35,140.
The export is significant for Haryana’s Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), as the initiative demonstrates how farmer-linked enterprises can move beyond domestic mandis to international markets through processing, packaging and adherence to global quality standards.
The exporting FPC received assistance under APEDA’s financial assistance scheme, supporting its entry into the overseas market.
APEDA’s Sector-17 Chandigarh office has been working with farmers, FPOs, FPCs and emerging food businesses to facilitate market linkages, export-related guidance and access to international buyers. The focus extends from fresh produce such as plums and lychees to frozen and other value-added food products.
APEDA chairman Abhishek Dev congratulated the exporter and stakeholders, saying direct exports by FPOs can help improve value realisation for producers. He also expressed optimism about further growth in Indian food exports to Canada and appreciated NIFTEM’s contribution.
APEDA Chandigarh regional head Harpreet Singh said the shipment marked an important milestone for Haryana’s farmers and added that APEDA aims to help more FPCs from the state become global exporters.
