Ludhiana, October 28, 2025: Senior Congress leader Amrita Warring has said that only the Congress can lead Punjab toward progress and prosperity. She stated that it was the Congress that brought industries to Ludhiana and developed it into an industrial hub. “However, due to the current government’s policies, industries are being forced to move to other states”, she rued.
Addressing a meeting of party workers in Sarabha Nagar, Amrita Warring said that the Congress has always placed Punjab above political interests. It was Congress that laid the foundation of industrial development in Ludhiana, but the anti-industry policies of the present government are driving businesses away. Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party government, she said that since they know they won’t return to power, their leaders are busy looting the state with both hands.
She also expressed serious concern over the drug menace, saying that the drugs brought in during the Akali regime continue to destroy the lives of Punjab’s youth, adding that families are suffering as young people fall victim to addiction.
Highlighting the excesses committed under the Aam Aadmi Party government, Warring referred to an incident in Sri Muktsar Sahib, where police allegedly registered a false case against a youth and picked him up. “However, due to the strong opposition by the Congress, the case took a new turn and the police were forced to release the innocent person”, she said, while emphasizing that for Congress, Punjab comes first, and she will always be present wherever her support is needed.
Addressing the gathering, former District Congress Committee (Urban) president Pawan Dewan said that the present government has failed to meet people’s expectations. Neither did they provide Rs 1,000 per month to women, nor did they tackle the drug menace. The situation has worsened to the point where reports of gangsters demanding ransom have become a routine. Law and order has deteriorated and people are living in fear and uncertainty.
Earlier, Amrita Warring was presented with a token of respect by party workers. Among others, Monica Chopra Jagtap (General Secretary, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee), PCC members Sushil Malhotra and Purushottam Khalifa, Maninder Pal Titu, Amrinder Singh Jassowal, Rohit Pahwa, Sunil Sehgal, Neeraj Birla, Anil Sachdeva, Ashwani Jain, Jaswinder Singh, Kuljit Neeta, Yashpal Kapoor, Deepak Hans, Jagmohan Singh Nikku, and Hemant Mahajan were also present.
