Anthropology department Organises Orientation-cum-Induction Programme

The Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised an Orientation-cum-Induction Programme for the new graduate and postgraduate students in the seminar hall. The programme was held under the esteemed presence of the Chairperson, Dr. J. S. Sehrawat, along with the distinguished faculty members of the department. The department representatives Navnnet and Saubhagaya played crucially constructive role in organising this event and managed many things very efficiently.

Chandigarh, September 24, 2025: The Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised an Orientation-cum-Induction Programme for the new graduate and postgraduate students in the seminar hall. The programme was held under the esteemed presence of the Chairperson, Dr. J. S. Sehrawat, along with the distinguished faculty members of the department. The department representatives Navnnet and Saubhagaya played crucially constructive role in organising this event and managed many things very efficiently.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students of the department, with a special emphasis on extending a warm welcome to the newly admitted students. Faculty members introduced the discipline of Anthropology,  emphasising its diverse branches, wide academic scope, and promising career opportunities in Anthropology at national and international levels. As part of the programme, the department also arranged a multi-museum educational **tourwithin the University premises. The highlight of this visit was the Museum of Man, where the students were given a detailed and insightful educational tour by Dr. Bahadur Singh, providing them with first-hand exposure to the invaluable resources essential for the study of Anthropology.

The event concluded on a highly positive note, marked by the active support and coordination of the faculty members, department representatives, and various departmental committees, ensuring the success of the programme. Dr. Sehrawat welcomed all the new students and thanked all the faculty members and research scholars to sensitise them about the scope and job opportunities in the discipline and urged the students to be interactive in class and innovative in thinking for the efficient teaching learning process at University level. He added there is no dearth of opportunities in the field as Anthropology itself is a multi-disciplinary subject.
