Answer for AK-47s and Pellet Guns Against Students, Amit Shah Must Explain: Randhawa
Former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has strongly condemned the alleged pointing of AK-47 rifles at protesting students and the use of pellet guns against them in Bihar and Delhi. He said that in a democratic country, such treatment of students who are peacefully protesting for their legitimate demands is completely unacceptable and condemnable.

Chandigarh, July 27, 2026: Former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has strongly condemned the alleged pointing of AK-47 rifles at protesting students and the use of pellet guns against them in Bihar and Delhi. He said that in a democratic country, such treatment of students who are peacefully protesting for their legitimate demands is completely unacceptable and condemnable.
In protest against these incidents, Sukhjinder Randhawa participated in a demonstration outside Parliament against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He demanded that Amit Shah explain why rifles were pointed at students and why lathi charges were carried out against them. He also supported the Opposition MPs' demand for the Home Minister's resignation.
Randhawa said that all central security agencies and forces function under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and therefore the responsibility for the entire matter rests with the Union Home Minister. He must account for the lathi charges and the alleged use of pellet guns against protesting students in Delhi and other parts of the country. He should also explain who ordered security personnel to point AK-47 rifles at students protesting in Bihar and how pellet guns came to be used against students in Delhi.
He demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident and strict legal action against all officials responsible for ordering and carrying out these actions, so that such incidents do not recur in the future. He said that such treatment of students is entirely unacceptable and condemnable. The protesting students are the children and future of our country, and pointing rifles and using guns against them cannot be tolerated.
He further stated that in a democracy, the use of weapons and force to suppress students' voices cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Instead of resorting to repression, the government should listen to the students' demands with sensitivity and work towards a peaceful resolution.
