Another Initiative of Mann Government – Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurates 66 KV Grid Substation at Gidderwindi

Ludhiana, July 20, 2026: Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and with the vision of strengthening the state’s power infrastructure, Punjab Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond today inaugurated a new 66 KV Grid Substation at village Gidderwindi in Jagraon tehsil of Ludhiana district.
On the occasion, the Power Minister stated that the state government is committed to providing uninterrupted power supply to consumers. He informed that the project has been developed by PSPCL at a cost of ₹5.50 crore to ensure reliable and efficient electricity supply.
He further said that the project will strengthen the power infrastructure in the region and benefit thousands of consumers in 10 villages, including Gidderwindi, Lodhiwal, Tihara, Sherenwal, Sodhiwal, Malsian Bazan, Kannian, Rasoolpur Jandi, Taraf Kotli and Aboopura, by providing uninterrupted and reliable power supply.
For this substation, villagers provided a total of 1 acre 2 kanal land, including 1 acre 1 kanal from Giddarwindi and 1 kanal from Lodhiwal, as a contribution in public interest. The Power Minister appreciated this gesture, calling it a remarkable example of community participation.
He added that under this project, a 6.30 km long 66 KV transmission line has been laid with the installation of 29 towers, costing ₹2.52 crore.
The substation, equipped with a 12.5 MVA power transformer and 7 outgoing 11 KV feeders, has been constructed at a cost of ₹1.78 crore, while ₹1.30 crore has been spent on the building and civil works.
MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke thanked Cabinet Minister Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Sond and said that today he has inaugurated the 66 KV grid in Gidderpindi village of her constituency. She said that I feel proud that Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond has approved all the works of Jagraon constituency. She said that along with this, the grids of Bujkar, Kaunke and Bhammipur of Jagraon constituency will also start soon. She said that the issues related to poeer supply in Jagraon constituency will be resolved now.
On this occasion, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) CMD Dr. Basant Garg said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously working to modernize the power infrastructure and provide better services to the people. He added that this substation will accelerate the socio-economic development of the region.
