Annual Pharmacology Quiz in CMC highlights National Program on Adverse Drug Reactions

Ludhiana, September 22, 2017: The department of pharmacology, CMC Hospital, Ludhiana organized “Pharmiz-2017”, the 12th Annual Pharmacology Quiz for MBBS Students.Four teams from MBBS batches 2012-2015 were selected through prelim round. Dr.JugeshChhatwal, Vice-Principal, CMC emphasised the role of rational use and rational prescribing of drugs and importance of inculcating these habits through interesting learning methods like quiz. She appreciated the efforts of the students for a very competitive quiz.
Dr. Dinesh Badyal, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacology, CMC conducted the quiz along with team from pharmacology department. During Quiz he emphasised the contribution of CMC in reporting Adverse drug reactions (ADR) to the national pool through ADR monitoring centre of CMC under ageis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. CMC has contributed more than 3000 ADRs.
Dr.Gagandeep, Professor of Pharmacology introduced the history and concept of annual pharmacology quiz and the team conducting it. Dr.Gaurav Gulrez and Dr.Madhulika presented the recent updates on National programs on reporting adverse events to medicines, medical devices and blood products. The names of the winners of the Pharmacology quiz are as under: Saloni Gupta and Christopher Peter MBBS Batch 2012. The winners of Pharmiz-2017 were awarded trophies and certificates. The winners of the poster making competition on medicines were the team which included AlnaAlackal, Hannah Hazra, Nida Naeem, SameeraKohli, Tania Thomas, Anmol Chanda, Noel Bijoy, Shebin Kurian and Piyush Bansal. The the theme of their poster was “Pharmacotherapy of Migraine”.
