Annual Innovation Expo at LPU Unveiled 500+ Breakthrough Projects by 2,500+ Students

Jalandhar, Apeil 30, 2025: The boundaries between classroom learning and real world impact dissolved as the Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus came alive with innovation and purpose. This spirit culminated in a spectacular convergence of technology, design, and creativity during the 8th edition of annual Innovation & Graduating Project Expo INNOTEK 2025.The two day event organized by the Department of Student Research & Projects featured over 500+ pioneering projects by 2500+ students across 29+ schools of LPU, held at the Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis Auditorium.
From robotics and AI-powered systems to sustainable rural innovations and wearable tech, INNOTEK 2025 reflected the university’s interdisciplinary spirit and problem-solving ethos. The event was thoughtfully curated around key domains such as Engineering & Technology, Agriculture, Health & Allied Sciences, Management, Social Sciences, and Applied Arts. Distinguished experts from academia and industry, providing invaluable feedback and mentorship, reviewed projects.
The expo spotlighted a variety of standout creations and amazing problem-solving projects. One such project was the Counter Drone System, a sophisticated real-time drone detection and tracking solution developed using ROS 2 Humble. This system employs a trained AI model to identify drones through camera input and automatically tracks them using motor controls governed by Arduino. The project reflects immense potential for application in security and surveillance sectors.
Another innovation was a LoRa-based smart helmet for coal miners, equipped with sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, toxic gases, fire hazards, and workers' vitals, along with an SOS button for emergencies providing a life-saving edge in hazardous environments. Adding to it was a breakthrough Posture Pal, an AI-assisted wearable that detects poor posture using motion sensors and delivers haptic alerts via vibrations. Compact and cost-effective, the device also logs real-time posture data through a connected mobile app, helping mitigate long-term spinal health issues.
Declaring the expo open, Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, expressed immense pride in the students' path-breaking innovations. Dr. Mittal encouraged every student to put forth their best, emphasizing, "Every project, big or small, reflects your passion and potential." Citing the journey of Sri Vishnu, who secured a ₹2.5 crore global package, and successful student startups like Digantara and King Hills, Dr. Mittal accentuated how LPU promotes ideas that grow into impactful ventures. “Students are identifying real-world problems to executing creative solutions this is the essence of EduRevolution: empowering change-makers for society and the globe,” Dr. Mittal noted.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of LPU, Dr.Lovi Raj Gupta guided students on refining their project outcomes through clearly defined problem statements, superior solutions, and compelling presentation skills key traits in today’s innovation-driven landscape.
Innovation at Innotek was not limited to tech domains. Students from Fashion Design, Architecture, and Fine Arts displayed handmade, tech-integrated creations that beautifully blended aesthetic expression with practical utility. As part of the EduRevolution Initiative, students also engaged in entrepreneurial activities—transforming their innovations into revenue-generating ventures by selling their self-developed products, gaining firsthand experience in business viability and customer interaction.
At LPU, innovation is more than a goal it is a journey supported from concept to prototype to potential startup. Through academic mentorship and strong industry engagement, the university ensures students are not only ready for the job market but also equipped to lead and shape the future.
