Annual FDP inaugurated at CGC Landran

A two-week long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) commenced today at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran. The programme saw the participation of more than 100 faculty members from all the departments of the institution. Apart from enabling new faculty members to hone their professional capabilities the FDP seeks to help them understand their responsibilities as educator-cum facilitators, researchers, and administrators. Further, the FDP would enlighten & train CGC’s faculty members on the importance of experiential learning and its role in enhancing the quality of education being imparted to students. It will also help them learn innovative teaching techniques to nurture their students’ skill-set eventually helping strengthen their employability quotient.

The first day of the FDP was graced by Dr. Krishan Mohan IAS (Retd.), Ex Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana, as the keynote speaker. He was welcomed by the top management of CGC and inaugurated the session by lighting the lamp. Dr. Krishan Mohan spoke on the ‘Significance of Motivation and Leadership for faculty in Higher Education.’

The two-week long event would see participation of eminent speakers and dignitaries comprising academicians and industry leaders from IIT Ropar, Panjab University, Curtin University, Australia, Chandigarh University, Diageo United Spirits Ltd, SRL Diagnostics Ltd. and a host of others.

Emphasizing the significance of the annual FDP, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran said, “CGC’s institution’s faculty is its key asset. These sessions would help reinforce their capabilities and knowledge helping them become educators-par-excellence.”
