Annual alumni meet and dhoom

Ludhiana: Ramgarhia Girls College is celebrating Golden Jubilee this year. To mark this historical time of the college the Annual Alumni Meet was celebrated on a grand scale in Baba Gurmukh Singh Hall on Saturday along with the Dhoom-A-Fete in the college compound. Mrs. Rajinder Kaur, M.D., G.S Radiators was the Chief Guest. Former Principal Dr. Narinder kaur Sandhu was the Guest of Honour. 

The main attraction of the event was the presence of the very first student of the college Daljit kaur and Fifty-one others who were honored also. Mrs. Kawaljit Kalsi, Former Principal, Ramgarhia Girls Senior Secondary School, and her daughter Pushpdeep Kaur, both are the alumnus of the college. While sharing the stage they expressed their views by saying that two generations of several families have come here today and they both feel it extremely wonderful to meet their batch mates. Overwhelmed by witnessing the achievements of the former students of the college, Principal, Dr. Inderjit Kaur expressed her ideas by saying that it feels great to maintain a relationship with alumni. The college has a legacy and rich heritage of 50 years where along with achieving excellent results and high positions in various fields the college makes every effort to stay connected with the previous students who made the history of this institution a glorious one. Around five hundred old students from different walks of life attended the meet. Students who havemade their careers in the field of theatre, cinema, banking, media, academic and hotel industry shared their experiences and reminisced of days gone by. Baljinder kaur working as Senior Technical Assistant in Panjabi University, Patiala and Shelly Sood talked of the occasion  very warmly saying that it feels great to be in the college once again and they have learnt a great deal from their alma mater to tackle the difficulties of life courageously  They gave credit to the faculty of the college for giving them wings to fly.  Daljeet Kaur felt nostalgic while talking about the opportunities given to her by the college and said that this college has always encouraged her to explore the hidden world and to make a place to herself. The extravaganza of the day was consisting Dhoom-A-Fete where not only the present students but the alumnus also enjoyed to their heart. 

The campus was decorated with colourful flags and beautiful decorations made the sunny day even more colourful. Several games like Double the Money, Dart Game, Stalls of eatables, Mehandi Art, Nail Art, Paintings, Music on demand and Haunted House etc. were organised. President S. Ranjodh Singh spinned the lucky Draw and announced the lucky winner. In his address he remembering the long journey of 50 years asserted that it has been a tremendous journey so far replete with so many proud achievements. He also announced the Alumni fund to be raised by alumnus  to help the needy students. The main event ended with a cultural programme by students of Post Graduate Department of Music.
