A mass movement by FSSAI that aims to strengthen the health of every Indian

Bengaluru, November 14, 2018: Keeping up with the commitment to help people live better lives, Amway India, the country’s largest FMCG direct selling company, has supported the ‘Eat Right India’ Movement led by FSSAI to promote healthy lifestyle among the masses. The Cyclothon for Eat Right Movement in Bengaluru was flagged at the Office of the Food Safety Commissioner, Public Health Institute, Bangalore.

The Cyclothon is part of the Swasth Bharat Yatra which is a revolutionary initiative that aims to promote healthy diets and focuses on preventive healthcare. The movement has been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March. It is launched to engage, excite and enable citizens to eat right and improve their overall health and wellbeing. Amway India is proud to support this initiative as part of our voluntary support activities as it aligns with our overall agenda of promoting balanced diet and healthy nutrition.

Talking about the partnership, Mr. Anshu Bhudraja, CEO, Amway India said, “It’s a great opportunity to be associated with Swasth Bharat Yatra as part of ‘Eat Right India’ movement. Despite being one of the fastest growing economies in the world, we are encountering rapidly increasing conditions of malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies and over-nutrition. Given India’s significant share in the world’s population, we, as a nation, have a critical role in shaping up the nutrition narrative in the world. We are glad that Amway is a part of this important mission which is aligned with the government’s key programmes – Swachh Bharat Mission, Ayushman Bharat and POSHAN Abhiyaan. Considering the realities of irregular eating habits and food adulteration which affects the nutritional intake among Indians, nutritional supplements along with regular diets can go a long way in improving the health of our nation. With this Swasth Bharat Yatra, we hope to help in bringing about a sustainable change which will significantly improve the overall well-being of Indians.”

The ‘Eat Right’ movement is completely aligned with Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi’s idea that all programmes associated with the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, should be designed around the theme of ‘Karyanjali’ – ‘Gandhi in Action’. The ‘Eat Right’ movement and the ‘Swasth Bharat Yatra’ are planned to reach the masses, who act as real engines of change. This is expected to trigger the masses through a one-of-a-kind public health movement and fundamentally transform the way India eats.

The last set of cyclists on the 1st leg of South West track will be handing over the symbolic relay baton to the next batch of cyclists at the starting location of 2nd leg in Bengaluru, the IT Capital of India and will pass through various cities including Pune and Ujjain to reach New Delhi by 25th January 2019 to participate in a culmination event of the ‘Swasth Bharat Yatra’.
