Standing tall at a towering 7 feet, Amritpal Singh's journey into the world of basketball commenced at the age of 19, a stage when many players are already deeply immersed in the sport. Hailing from an agrarian family though Amritpal started his sporting journey in kabaddi by playing since 2008, his introduction to basketball was sheer chance when Teja Singh Dhaliwal, the General Secretary of the Punjab Basketball Association, spotted him at the Police Academy. Intrigued by Amritpal's extraordinary height, Dhaliwal saw untapped potential and encouraged him to choose basketball in the sporting career. Amritpal Singh's rapid progression winning many laurels is remarkable. Within just two years of picking up the basketball, he emerged as one of the country's premier players, showcasing an extraordinary blend of commitment, skill, and hard work.

Within two years he made his debut in the Senior Men Basketball Indian team. Amritpal made waves in the NBL Australia, representing the Sydney Kings Club in the 2015-16 season. His stint in the Japan League in 2013 further added to his international exposure.

In 2017, during the Gujarat National Bhavnagar tournament, Amritpal Singh showcased his clutch play by scoring the last basket in the dying seconds. The game went into overtime, and Punjab emerged victorious, a testament to Amritpal S ability to shine in pressure situations.

Amritpal's resilience was put to the test in 2019 Nationals Basketball Games when he made a triumphant return to the court after a seven-month injury break. His exceptional performance helped contribute to winning the gold medal.

FIBA Asia Cup, Lebanon 2017: A significant milestone, representing India in one of Asia's premier basketball competitions.
FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, Lebanon – 2017: His participation on the global stage further enhanced his growing presence in international basketball.
21st Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast, Australia-2018: A momentous occasion where Amritpal represented India at the prestigious Commonwealth Games, showcasing his prowess.
Gold Medal at the 13th SAF Games, Kathmandu, Nepal – 2019: A crowning achievement, highlighting his contribution to India's success in the South Asian region.
He was part of Punjab Team which won National Gold played in Punjab in Decemeber,2019
In the Nationals played in Chennai he was in Punjab Team which was runner up 2020
He also played in Asia Cup Philippines from India in the year 2021
In the Indian National Games in Bhavnagar in Gujrat, he was part of Punjab Team which earned 2nd position
He was part of Punjab’s Gold winning team for the Nationals played in Udaipur in the year 2022 as organised by BFI.
Recently also, he also played a stellar role in Punjab Team winning Gold at The Indian National Games in Goa,2023
